Last week, Alby PtX submitted its environmental permit application to the Land and Environment Court in \u00d6stersund \u2014 a necessary step before construction can begin on the planned sustainable aviation fuel facility in \u00c5nge municipality.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 This is another important step on the journey from decline to development. It is great to see the project moving forward \u2014 that momentum is exactly what we have been working to enable in \u00c5nge, says Erik L\u00f6vgren, Chair of the Municipal Executive Board, \u00c5nge municipality.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant will produce e-Kerosene, a synthetic aviation fuel made from renewable electricity, water and captured carbon dioxide. The process runs via green hydrogen, produced on site and used directly in the fuel synthesis. The technology is called Power-to-Liquid and is one of the main pathways the aviation industry is counting on to phase out fossil fuels. EU regulations already require a minimum share of sustainable aviation fuel, and that share rises towards 2050. A key advantage of e-Kerosene is that it works in today&#8217;s aircraft engines without modification \u2014 it blends into existing fuelling infrastructure exactly as conventional fuel does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Alby facility is planned for a capacity of up to 106,000 tonnes of e-Kerosene per year \u2014 enough to fly a modern long-haul aircraft hundreds of laps around the Earth, entirely without fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alby PtX is jointly owned by German asset manager Prime Capital and Norwegian e-fuel developer Norsk e-Fuel. RES Renewable Norden, with offices in \u00c5nge, leads project development together with Norsk e-Fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 Submitting the application is a significant milestone \u2014 it represents a major effort involving many people. But the process of preparing an application also answers a lot of important questions and sets the framework for operations going forward, says Linda Levin, Permit Manager at RES.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application covers topics including water impact on Lake \u00c5ngesj\u00f6n, noise, natural environment and chemical risk management. A public consultation with residents of \u00c5nge municipality was held in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u2013 The application is an important step in the work to make Alby PtX one of Europe&#8217;s leading facilities for sustainable aviation fuel. This is the result of a long and determined team effort. It is satisfying to see our shared work now bearing fruit and the project taking concrete steps forward. Aviation needs fossil-free fuels, and Alby PtX can be part of the solution, says Jon Clausen, Project Director at Alby PtX.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Land and Environment Court in \u00d6stersund will now review the application.
